PORTALES MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORN CHARGES

ALBUQUERQUE, N.

M., June 1 -- The New Mexico Attorney General issued the following news release:

New Mexico Attorney General Gary King's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit reports cooperative work between ICAC Task Force members led to the arrest of a Portales man who has been charged with child pornography possession, manufacturing, and distribution.

AGO Special Agent Lois Kinch discovered 20-year-old Jason Torres committing what appeared to be online crimes in March. Agent Kinch provided information to the Portales Police Department, an ICAC Task Force member, which led to the issuance of a search warrant that resulted in Torres' arrest.

Torres' child pornography related charges include:

* 14 counts possession, fourth degree felony;

* 6 counts manufacturing, second degree felony; and,

* 8 counts distribution, third degree felony.

All charges combined carry a potential incarceration time of 99 years.

The Albuquerque Police Department, also an ICAC Task Force member, developed contributing information to the case.
