NSW: Alex the whale may be leaving town

Sydney's 50-tonne visitor of the past fortnight, ALEX the Southern Right Whale, may be
getting ready to leave town.

ALEX is frolicking at the northern entrance to Botany Bay and the National Parks and
Wildlife Service says he might be getting set to plunge into the Tasman Sea.

A National Parks spokesman says the whale could also just be searching for a different spot
to play in.

Overnight, ALEX swam more than 20 kilometres from where he was last seen at Balmoral
yesterday.

The best spot to catch a glimpse of him today is from La Perouse, overlooking Frenchmans
Bay.
